What am I thankful for? By: Anonymous
Published: December 1, 2010
2010 began like any other year did.
Filled with hope and I was ecstatic for it was my final year in college.
I never thought that this year would be the most tragic year yet in my life.
I always said to myself "I'm not afraid of death, I'm afraid that death would take
away someone I love".
I will never forget May 21, 2010. It was the day that the doors of heaven opened up
for her; the day that my bestfriend, my reason and my mother, was taken away from me.
I still remember her final words, as she held my hands, she uttered "Thank you, son".
And she went into a coma.
Now I understand that she's dancing with angels now.
But if God would grant me the opportunity to be with her again just for a few hours,
I'd take her out to see a movie, sing on a karaoke, and eat dinner just like we did before.
And before that treasured time comes to pass I'd kiss her on her forehead and tell her.
"Mom, thank you for being my light throughout the darkest days of my life, for not giving
up on me, for tending my wounds everytime I got into a fight, for cheering me up every single
basketball game I lost, for telling me I'm handsome everytime I dress up,
I'll never be who I am now if it wasn't for you, mom. I love you".
Oh God, I really miss her hugs, her laughs and heck I even miss her scolding!
I'll tell the whole world how great you are, until I join you.
See you again, someday.
Thank you and I love you.
